Sentry Shower Filter

When to replace

Sentry recommends replacing the filter once a year for one 10-minute shower a day, or every 6 months for two or more showers a day. The matching part is the Sentry Shower Replacement Filter (CP-SFR).

Replacement steps and care

Sentry says it installs in minutes, with no tools and no plumber. The unit is large and heavy when full of water, so check you have about 5 × 12 in of space. Contact us and we'll send Sentry's installation instructions.

Crystal Quest Shower Filter

When to replace

Crystal Quest recommends a new cartridge every 6 to 12 months, or sooner if water flow drops or a chlorine smell returns. Actual life depends on feed water quality, system configuration and usage. In hard-water areas, plan on the shorter end of the range.
The matching part is the Crystal Quest Shower Filter Replacement Cartridge (CQE-RC-04045).

Replacement steps and care

Crystal Quest says installation is done by hand, with no tools: wrap 2 to 3 layers of the included plumber's tape clockwise around the shower arm threads, then tighten hand-tight plus a quarter turn.
After installing a new cartridge, run hot water through the filter for 2 to 3 minutes to flush loose media fines, which are normal in a new cartridge. More than one flush may be needed. Let the water cool before you step in.
At each cartridge change, check that both housing O-rings sit in their grooves and coat them lightly with a non-petroleum oil (not coconut oil).
Between changes, you can reverse the cartridge in the housing to back-flush the media.
Protect the filter from freezing and direct sunlight.

GoodFor 8-Stage Shower Filter

When to replace

GoodFor recommends a new cartridge every 90 days for best performance. Depending on your water and use, a cartridge lasts 3 to 6 months; reduced flow or a returning chlorine smell is the sign.

Replacement steps and care

Tool-free, in under 5 minutes (GoodFor): set the gasket inside the top of the filter, wrap a few layers of thread tape around the shower arm, screw on the filter, then reattach your shower head.
